Teaching & Mentoring
Information about my teaching & mentoring experience.
Teaching Experience
SCY High School, 2024-2025 School Year
I taught AP Physics C, a calculus-based, college-level physics course, at a small private high school, where I designed and delivered three lectures each week on core physics topics. In those lessons, I emphasized problem-solving techniques and real-world applications to help students build both conceptual understanding and analytical skills. I also evaluated student learning by creating, assigning, and grading homework and quizzes.
UC Irvine, 2022-2024
I assisted professors and teaching assistants with discussion sections for Physics 2 (Introduction to Physics), Physics 7C (Classical Mechanics), Physics 7D (Electricity and Magnetism), and Physics 7E (Introduction to Waves and Optics). In this role, I worked closely with TAs to guide students through problem-solving exercises and reinforce key course concepts. I also participated in weekly meetings with professors and TAs to evaluate and refine instructional strategies, while providing individual support to students to clarify difficult material and strengthen their understanding.
Mentoring
UC Irvine, 2022-2024
I mentored a "Resonance Group" of new physics majors, providing peer support and guidance as they adjusted to the major. I advised mentees on course planning and on developing effective study habits, while also sharing my own experience navigating the physics curriculum. In addition, I presented my undergraduate research to new physics students to highlight opportunities for getting involved in research and to answer questions about pursuing research as an undergraduate.
UC Irvine, 2021-2022
I volunteered with the UC Irvine International Center to help create a welcoming space where international students could practice conversational English and build confidence in their language skills through one-on-one conversations with native speakers. I met weekly with students for guided conversations using provided prompts, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for language practice, cultural exchange, and personal connection.
